This festive Christmas pop-up bar, located in the heart of the Gold Coast and just steps away from Michigan Avenue, is a must-see this holiday season. With two levels, all decked out with thousands of lights and decorations, the Nutcracker Pop-up Christmas Bar & Hotel is the definition of Christmas cheer! Their offerings include craft Christmas cocktails, charcuterie boards, and the best holiday photo ops in the Gold Coast. This pop-up is open now until the end of December.
3. Butch McGuire’s

Since its opening in 1961, Butch McGuire’s has been a classic Chicago spot for good drinks and even better company. This bar especially thrives during the holidays, where Butch turned Christmas at Butch McGuire’s into a Chicago tradition. The entire place is transformed into a winter wonderland, displaying an array of lights, garland, and even two double-decker trains that run throughout the main bar and antique room. Gild apartments, Butch McGuire's is the perfect spot for our residents to stop on their way home from Christmas shopping on Michigan Avenue.

Whether you’re checking in for a cozy holiday stay with in-room fireplaces, watching the annual Christmas tree lighting of a 20-foot evergreen, or stopping by to check out the stunning lobby décor, the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in the Gold Coast is a great spot for some festive sight-seeing. If you need a break from holiday shopping on Magnificent Mile, take a stroll through Chicago's historic Water Tower Plaza. This area of Chicago's Gold Coast is beautiful all year round but is definitely worth seeing when it's decorated with lights and a giant Christmas tree. While you're there, you can also learn more about the significance of these towers by checking out the plaques affixed to the outside. This water tower is one of three surviving structures from the Chicago Fire in 1871.
